Terms of service

connormaze.com is the personal website of Connor Maze. It is not a company or a commercial service. Using the site means accepting the terms on this page. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

These terms cover three things: the public pages, the game on them, and the invite-only dashboard behind sign in.

The public side is a portfolio, some writing, and a game. It is free to use, requires no account, and takes no payment. Nothing on it is for sale.

The private side is a personal tool. It is invite only, there is no public registration, and access is granted at my discretion and can be withdrawn at any time for any reason.

Nothing on this site is professional advice. The portfolio describes work done for other parties and does not create any relationship with you. The markets area of the dashboard is a personal tool and is not investment advice, a recommendation, or a solicitation to trade.

The game is fiction. Its setting, characters, businesses, and the trade it depicts are invented. Nothing in it is an endorsement of the conduct it portrays.

It is provided free and as it is. It runs entirely in your browser and saves to your own device:

Saved games are held only in your browser. Clearing site data erases them, and browsers evict storage under pressure. No copy is held on any server, and none is ever sent to one. Backups can be exported and imported from the pause menu. No liability is accepted for a lost save.

The game may change or be removed at any time, and an update may make an older save unreadable.

Accounts exist only by invitation. If you hold one, you agree to keep your password and second-factor device to yourself, not to share the account, and to tell me promptly if you think it has been used by somebody else.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. An account may be suspended or deleted without notice if these terms are broken.

Using this site, you agree not to:

• Break into any part of it, or try to reach data or an account that is not yours.
• Probe, scan, or test its security without written permission first.
• Interfere with it or overload it, including by automated request floods, scraping at a rate that degrades it, or denial of service.
• Use it to store or transmit anything unlawful, or anything that infringes somebody else's rights.
• Misrepresent who you are, or forge headers to disguise the origin of a request.
• Strip, hide, or alter any copyright or attribution notice.
• Reverse engineer the private dashboard, or use anything learned from it to build a competing copy.

If you find a security problem, report it before disclosing it elsewhere. No legal action will be taken over a report made in good faith.

The site's code, its writing, its design, and the game are mine and are protected by copyright. Nothing here transfers ownership of any of it to you.

You may read the site, play the game, link to any page, and quote short passages with attribution. You may not republish whole pages, sell any part of it, present it as your own, or use it to train a model without permission.

The site is built on open source software, and the game uses artwork and sound released by their authors under their own licences. Every one of those is named, with its licence, on the credits page. Those components stay under their own terms, not these ones.

Company names and trade marks that appear in the portfolio belong to their owners. Their appearance records work done for those parties and implies no endorsement.

The site links out to other websites, and parts of the dashboard connect to services run by other companies. Those are outside my control. I am not responsible for their content, their availability, or what they do with data you give them directly. Which services are involved, and what each one receives, is listed on the privacy page.

There is no uptime commitment. Any part of the site may be changed, taken down, or discontinued at any moment, with or without notice, and no obligation is accepted to maintain, support, or update any of it.

The site and the game are provided as they are, with all faults, and without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. That includes any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement. No promise is made that the site will be uninterrupted, error free, secure, or free of anything harmful, or that any defect will be corrected.

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of this site, and that includes lost profits, lost data, and lost game saves, whether or not I was warned such damage was possible.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred United States dollars in total.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. Where that is so, the exclusions and limits above apply only as far as that jurisdiction permits, and your statutory rights are untouched.

These terms may change. The date at the top of this page is the date they last did. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the version then published. There is no archive of previous versions.

These terms are governed by the law of the United States and of my state of residence, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and the courts of that state are where any dispute is heard.

Where consumer law gives you rights that cannot be waived by agreement, these terms do not affect them.

If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a term on one occasion does not waive it.
